Talk about memories! Seeing the Buccaneers dressed in their old orange, red, and white uniforms threw me back to when they started in the 70's.
Doug Williams was the quarterback, with a shotgun pass that no one could hardly catch, Selmon, Giles, Young, Ricky Bell, among all who started out with the Bucs. Later traded then moving on taking their new found teams to win Superbowls. John Mckay was the coach, Hugh Culverhouse the owner, and the Bucs were a fresh new team.
The very first game I went to as a young teenager, the Bucs nearly won against the Rams in the playoffs almost going up against Bradshaw and the Steelers. No matter how many wins and losses our Bucs went through, they fought hard, standing tall against the greatest of teams leaving pain and reminders of never giving up. Ironically they played the Panthers this Sunday who are a fairly new team and lost, of course we can just blame it on their old uniforms which some people thought were cursed.
Needless to say the Bucs finally Joined the ranks of the greatest legendary teams by winning Super Bowl XXXVII on January 26, 2003 against the Raiders, that was finally well deserved. By then the uniforms were now Gold, Red , white, and Black. Gruden was the coach and the Glazer family were now the owners. We can never forget the past, and all our Bucs have been through, but even though they lost against the Panthers in the throwback game, they will always be the greatest underdogs and heroes to Mi Gente de Tampa Bay! God Bless The Buccaneers -Victor Padilla
